DESTINY

TRAGEDY
It was a very tragic end, the scenes of the hostage taking drama only rooted from the injustice committed by the government to the once a very decorated cop, who served and protected the country of his life. The feeling of being alone, neglected by the country to which the Good Captain had served upon agitated his depression and his thirst for justice.
THE OMBUDSMAN
The Ombudsman can’t do anything about his case because there are certain rules, law and regulation to be followed, we can’t blame them, they are tied with the rule of law and not with the rule of men, however the very slow phase of procedural process of review got the good captain so irritated and feel so neglected coupled with the facts that he was dismissed from the service with termination of all his benefits from the government. He has a family to support with, a reputation to defend. Administrative cases don’t need guilt beyond reasonable doubt; it only needs preponderance of evidence sufficient to believe that the good Captain might have committed the offense as charged.
JUSTICE SYSTEM
The justice system of the country is almost perfect, however the judges, prosecutors and lawyers who execute the justice system were the one to blame, there were judges who were biased, ignorant of the law, more ignoramus than the common layman, corrupt, habitual poker player and often times present at the casino rather than at the court proceeding. Where and to whom the common layman will ask for justice when the one who will gave us justice is the root cause of injustice?
This was what happened at the case of the good captain, the very long wait that only aggravated his agony of being alone and neglected by the government caused him to feel that there is indeed injustice, justice was not served to him very well. Well in fact, the case was only a very simple administrative case that if the decision was not favorable to the respondent, the respondent has certain period of time to file a motion for reconsideration, then appeal, and if still the decision is not favorable, the respondent can go to the Supreme Court for Certiorari or petition for review. A letter address to the Office of the Ombudsman cannot be considered as motion or appeal as to what the letters of the law provides.
If only the Good Captain was properly advised by a lawyer, a friend or a family member, the end could have been different. If only the good Captain was a wide reader of the past decisions of the Supreme Court or had read law books, the end could have been different. Then who’s to blame?
THE POLICE
The young police officers who obviously doesn’t know how to react intelligently, only follows the procedure of their ground commander, and has no high tech devices to control the situations, and not even know how to control the crowd, the bystander and the ususero. After the whole incidents were televised at the whole world to watch. The Philippines is now the laughing gossips of the world because of the stupidity of the police, the ngiting aso of the president and worst the silent mode of the Office of the President at the time when a one phone call from the President could have save the lives of the many, and could have saved the reputation of the country.

Am I proud to be a Filipino?
Destiny can’t be change but can be challenge, what more a decision of the Administrative case of the Ombudsman, it could always be challenge. Sadly, the good captain followed the path of his own choosing, he allowed his fears to set the frontier of his destiny.
My deepest Sympathy to the family of the Late Good Captain and to the family of the Chinese Canadian citizens who were both victims of the injustice, bad decisions and lapses of the Police of the country, the country to whom the good captain had served and protected for years of his life.
